Tanja Kodlin
Am Grund
On 4 September 2025 at around 8 p.m., Tanja Kodlin will present a performance at the Schwanenteich in Ratingen-West.
Inspired by animal states of immobility in response to fear, threat or cold, Tanja Kodlin’s performative intervention explores the boundaries between withdrawal and resistance, between adaptation and agency. She approaches survival strategies such as hibernation or torpor as active processes. In this context, withdrawal is not a sign of weakness or passivity but a conscious act of self-care and resilience.
The performance will take place at the Schwanenteich and invites people from the area to reflect on (emotional) isolation, and dynamics of closeness and distance in urban life. It explores ways in which we can support and empower each other in times of inward retreat, and how we can allow moments of encounter and connection to emerge.
Tanja will also offer the workshop Surviving the Cold in August, which you can register for via the VHS Ratingen website. Registration opens on 9 July.
Attendance at the event and the workshop is free of charge.
