Anne Schülke
We are the Vulnerbale
On 4 September 2025 at around 9:20 p.m., Anne Schülke presented a video and a piece of music at the Berliner Platz in Ratingen-West.
The musical piece was created in collaboration with Detlef Klepsch. It is a mix of voice, software synthesizer composition and electric bass. The voice delivers a manifesto-like text that Anne has already presented publicly in recent years in Ratingen-West, Florence, Seoul and Ankara. The text calls on the audience to rethink the past and reshape the present for a different future. Visitors can move freely with wireless headphones and engage with the piece through movement.
The video is a collaboration with Zeynep Özmen, Mübeccel Kaya and Linda Rödel Ҫiftҫi – women from Ankara whom Anne met in May 2025. It features footage of Ankara, Seoul, Florence and Ratingen accompanied by a poem. The poem was written after extensive walks through the city and translated by Coşkun Demirok and ChatGPT. In it, Anne transfers bodily reactions triggered by a sense of shame onto buildings. This personification can be extended to other cities or objects.
Anne, together with Tachi, also offered the workshop Bilder sprechen in August.
